In last five years we have worked on many projects relating to reduction of tobacco consumption among young people:
- Non-smoking classes programmes in secondary and primary schools in Slovenia,
- workshops in elementary schools with title “Reducing tobacco consumption among young
people”
- a series of educational workshops in the secondary school for hACCESSce service, secondary
school for biotechnics in Maribor, secondary school for construction, secondary school for´
hACCESSce service in Izola, secondary school for designers,
- an educational workshop in the diocesan grammar school (non-smoking classes programme),
- educational and motivational workshops in Faculty of health sciences (University of Maribor)
- educational and motivational workshops in College of Health Care Izola (University of
Primorska)
- worked on smoking cessation programme in primary and secondary schools in Slovenia made
by Slovenian Public Health Institute (Title: “Free hands, clean lungs”) organised a series of
non-smoking festivals for young people (for example in May 2009:
- 20 May 2009 SCTC participated with a stand and health promotion materials on tobacco
prevention at the NGO fair Podravje
- 19 May 2009, Games Lampijoncki
- 28 May 2009 Non Smoking Festival on the occasion of the World No Tobacco Day 2009,
organized by SCTC and its NGO members
- 28 May 2009 SCTC organized a Round Table and Press Conference with the title Tobacco
control strategies in the Republic of Slovenia
- 29 May 2009 Press Conference of the Institute of Public Health of the Republic of Slovenia
on the occasion of the World No Tobacco Day 2009)
- Preparing and distributing health education materials,
- Conducting researches and preparing exhibitions,
- Youth camps for giving up smoking,
- sport events for young people,
- providing help for students at their seminar work on tobacco prevention,
- Informing youth through web pages, conferences, e-news, workshops, booths...
- educating young volunteers,
- SCTC and its member NGO organised a series help-line shows with tips on how to quit
smoking - student radio station (as part of HELP project),
- Published a TV spot which was broadcasted on the main national TV station,
- conducting measurements (project “Oksimobil”) of CO in exhaled air among young smokers
in all regions of Slovenia,
- young volunteers helped to the SCTC to prepare the proposal of tobacco legislation ,
- spreading new information through media, public events and our web site, about nicotine
addiction and the manipulation of tobacco industry among youngsters,
- Attending different conferences on tobacco or health (e.g. World conferences on tobacco
or health which were held in Mumbai, Washington, Helsinki etc.).
